Arctic ice hockey team was established in 2008 at the initiative of Sergey Egorov, President Arctic World Club. The club’s goal is to promote veterans’ and children’s hockey, share the experience of Russian and world sports celebrities with young athletes. The team consists of amateurs and well-known professional ice hockey players, including Olympic champions and World Cup winners. Since 2009, the team has been successfully competing in Russian and international veterans’ tournaments.
The club also established Arctic children’s team and Arctic University professional women’s team (Ukhta, Republic of Komi), which competes against other women’s teams in the Russian ice hockey championship.
The Arctic team takes active part in the Night Hockey League since the championship was established. This is our sixth successful season at NHL.

In 2011 the club organized its own ice hockey tournament – Arctic Cup. Its main goal is to draw public interest to the issue of exploring the Arctic’s natural resources based on a peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation, setting up a platform for cultural exchange between the Arctic Council countries. The tournament is supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, national ice hockey federations of the arctic Council member states and personally by the President of International Ice Hockey Federation René Fasel, President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak.
In 2012 a decision was made to expand the Arctic Cup format and conduct a separate tournament among amateur junior teams of the Arctic Council countries – Arctic Cup Junior.
