Scientists of the Kola Scientific Center have developed a technology for cleaning liquid nuclear waste. They created nanomaterials - analogues of natural materials with unique properties. The most interesting of them are sorbents. They are able to "take" radioactive substances from waste, while their further storage does not pose a threat to the environment. Now scientists face the task of organizing the pilot production of sorbents. According to Anatoly Vinogradov, Deputy Head for Science at the Center for Nanomaterials, large-scale tests will be possible thanks to the creation of the facility in cooperation with the Kola MMC and the "Apatit" combine. This is how our Arctic science helps to make the world cleaner and safer.
